Experience level Basic: These classes teach fundamental technical elements from the ground up. No prior experience required.
This class introduces the fundamental principles of contemporary dance technique. The focus lies on developing an organic, natural, and functional way of moving. Participants learn to coordinate their bodies in dynamic connection with breath, gravity, and body weight. The aim is to move not against the body’s physical conditions, but in harmony with them – fluidly, efficiently, and with power. A key element of the class is floorwork – movement close to or directly on the floor. Here, participants explore how to navigate the floor safely and with awareness, using rolling, sliding, and dynamic transitions between different levels. The class combines structured movement sequences (choreographed phrases) with open improvisational tasks. This blend supports both the development of technical skills and the expansion of body awareness, expressive capabilities, and movement vocabulary. This class is especially suitable for beginners or those with little or no previous dance experience who wish to build confidence in their bodies and in contemporary dance practice.
Training takes place barefoot or in socks.
